Caution. There are scenes of rape and abuse. Tragic but handled well by the author. If you are sensitive to these issues, just be aware because they are the reason for the story. I still recommend this book.LOVE this series! Each tough guy has his soft-side or as Bowie says to Javier, “You look like a hardened criminal but, deep down, you’re a marshmallow.” Whether it has been Cy, Preacher or now Javier, we have learned that these Elite Protection Services guys are tough as their circumstances require but always sensitive to their lover. I was surprised at the direction of the book so soon. I expected what happened to be toward the end. I should have known…because BAM in the prologue we’re hit with Bowie in the hospital remembering his ordeal. But soon we see the other side of Bowie which is what attracts Javier. That scene is wonderful!If you like bodyguard, mafia-like, strong men who fall for their male assignment, you will like this book. Bowie’s BFF, Odette and Javier’s aunt, Tía Sylvia are both strong women. You will love their spunk. So many great characters I’m hoping to hear more about in future books. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through Gay Romance Reviews. Now, I can’t wait for the next one.
